The money from the non-traditional scholarship fund is used to fill the gaps that no other agencies can fill, helping participants overcome barriers to obtain and maintain employment. Funds are available immediately, thanks to our donors, but amounts are limited, so we assist as many participants as possible. Transportation expenses are always the biggest barrier to getting to work, as is childcare,  and the access to Internet connections and home computers in order to further education.

The Non Traditional Scholarship fund has helped job seekers with the following:

Emergency transportation to get to work

Supplemented childcare fees in order to finish a class

New York State Certified Nursing Assistant exam and licensure fees

Fingerprinting fees to apply for employment at a school

Uniforms or shoes for a new job

Fees to obtain a drivers license
